Laboratory tests for blood and tissue samples are conducted 13 billion times a year in the U.S. alone. What’s more, about two-thirds of all diagnoses in the U.S. are based on lab test information. Efficient testing, sample integrity and speed all impact this critical informative step that drives the majority of downstream healthcare procedures. The effective use of a nation’s laboratory testing infrastructure depends on a property functioning end-to-end logistics network.

While knowing a product’s location and its condition is essential to running any effective supply chain, with medical specimens the level of accountability is far more important. At stake is more than the continuing business of impatient customers. What’s at stake are people’s lives. As with many things in our world today, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought the importance of the lab logistics (throughput, capacity, accuracy and speed) into the spotlight. In this whitepaper, we explore how one of our clients, Interpath Laboratories, has solved these issues, and several more.
